this teapot was created by making a doughnut on the wheel and then putting it on it's side, giving it a bottom, a handle and a spout. Unfortunately, the teapot broke in transport before it could be photographed, and the lid was also lost.
This piece was thrown on the wheel, but I let the clay take some control as I was shaping and creating the piece, so that the end result looks more organic than a typical pot on the wheel.

I experiment a lot with textures on the faces of my pieces, like the wood texture on this one, which I use as a flower pot for an orchid.

I experiment a lot with this specific glaze, because any edges in the clay become enhanced with this glaze when fired. I also experiment with poking holes in pieces and patching them up.

I really like to let the clay think for itself some times, and I like that to show through organic shapes and settling of the piece. Here, I let the walls of the bowl droop as they wanted, and then poked into the walls to let slip ooz through.

I like changing the shape of a pot thrown on the wheel. Here, I created a pot with a circular rim, but I cut the walls so that it was a more geometric shape.

Ceramics is a hobby of mine that would be a career if it weren't for my interest in Graphic Design and Architecture. I hope to keep ceramics as a freelance side hobby of mine throughout my life. Above are a variety of pieces I've made throughout the years. Since ceramics is a hobby, I am more free for experimentation than I would otherwise be comfortable, and as a result, these peices are all experimentations. I like to let the clay think for itself and control its own shape a lot. I also love to work with different textures that I can make either by manipulating the clay, cutting, or drawing onto the clay. I push the boundaries of what I know about ceramics.
